Property owners who have not received their property tax bill by the first week of June must Contact Tax to request the document.
The City of Calgary is not responsible for delays. Non-receipt of your property tax bill does not exempt you from late payment penalties. To avoid late payment penalties, ensure your property tax is paid on or before the June 30 due date.
The City of Calgary offers a variety of property tax payment options to pay directly to The City or through your bank. For more information including on how to join the Tax Instalment Payment Plan (TIPP), visit Property tax payment.

For any investors interested in the Calgary area, we wanted to take an opportunity to go into more depth on why you should invest in Calgary and how to choose the perfect property for you based on your budget and needs.
To help us with that, we spoke with Jesse Davies, a top local realtor, about some of the things you should know when choosing an investment property in Calgary. Not only is Davies an agent working in Calgary, but he is also an investor himself and has a family history in the Calgary real estate industry. When he speaks about the city, you can be assured his information comes from a deep wealth of knowledge and experience in the area.
Davies goes on to explain that this segment offers a lot of options for investors who are willing to make improvements on their property, such as renovating for legal basement units. And as the home itself ages, these lots can become valuable locations for new builds years down the line, leveraged from the equity of the existing homes.

The Alberta government maintains a central registry of property that has been presumed abandoned by its owner. The person or entity that keeps or maintains abandoned property is required to report and transfer the abandoned property or its cash equivalent to Alberta Tax and Revenue Administration (TRA). Once transferred, the owner or their legal representative, or a creditor, can make a claim to that property.
If you use the assistance of a person or agency to locate your property, make sure you have the arrangement in writing. The locator fee in Alberta cannot be greater than 10% of the value of the property.
Each property has a defined abandonment period, which determines when property is required to be remitted. Depending on the type, property must be dormant for 1 to 15 years before it can be declared unclaimed. Refer to section 6 of the Regulation for more details including how to determine when the abandonment period begins for each property type.
